At Roof we believe that guests should be treated like family. We will always serve only the best, freshest food and we will always exceed expectations. Roof takes pride in sourcing the finest local ingredients, and serving them in an affordable way. As native Washingtonians, we are proud to serve this community because this is our home. For this reason we have partnered with local growers, farmers, dairies, and watermen to bring the best local products to share at our tables. We are very proud of our name Roof, as we will be Bethesda’s first full service Rooftop Restaurant and Bar. Our specialty cocktail list will include House Infused spirits prepared on site by our Chef and mixologist. Roof will be the areas perfect solution for a great Restaurant and gathering place. About The Owner
The concept of Roof came from a 28-year journey of working in local area restaurants, being an active volunteer in the local DC, Maryland and Virginia area and having a passion for networking and pride in my community. For years I have been struggling with the idea of what food concept was missing in Bethesda, so I began to research other successful communities in the metropolitan area and figured it out. Bethesda needed a gathering place that has excellent food at reasonable prices, a lively bar atmosphere and most importantly a Rooftop dining area with a full service bar. Bethesda is the only city or area in the DC metropolitan region that has no Rooftop dining and bar venues.
So I began on mission to find a perfect location to bring my idea to life, but I also needed to find a Chef capable of bringing top quality, local seafood and sustainable foods and keep the prices competitive and affordable. I had spoken to the owners at the corner of Norfolk and Cordell in the Woodmont Triangle in Bethesda a few years back, and they explained to me that their vision was for a much bigger place than I was looking for. After a few more inquiries, and a lot of negotiation, the building was split into three separate spaces, and the second floor and Rooftop restaurant and bar was beginning to take place.
I am a native Washingtonian and have served my community in many different ways over the past 20 plus years. I am High School Lacrosse Coach, currently at Walter Johnson HS in Bethesda, MD, but have coached at a few different schools in the Bethesda area since 1993. I serve on the board of a couple local charitable organizations that raise money for Diabetes Research and Leukemia Lymphoma. I also serve as a committee member on the Montgomery County Nighttime Economy Task Force.
